Battlefield 4 Requirements: EA’s fourth installment of the Battlefield series (simply Battlefield 4) has been announced. Gamers everywhere are edging closer to their monitors, awaiting the game’s release which promises to be the smoothest, best-looking installment yet.
While the game is set to release in the Fall of 2013 (rumored to be October based on previous entries) for both console and PC, console owners don’t have to worry about Battlefield 4’s system requirements.
The complete requirements and specifications for B4 have yet to be confirmed but here is what we have gathered so far.
Table of Contents
From what we’ve seen based on Battlefield 3, the next entry is going to be even more advanced, both in gameplay and graphics. What this equates to is more required from your PC or laptop.
This game is going to need a dual core processor for the minimum requirements, a quad core to meet the recommended. Most sites suggest Duo Core if you’re an Intel user; Bulldozer for AMD for the dual cores. For the quad core, most likely the i5 or i7 running at 3 Ghz or better if you can get it.
Based on what we’ve seen in the past, 2GB of memory is the absolute minimum, but really, if you’re a gamer, you should have at least 3. Obviously, we don’t have the hard core numbers, but we’re thinking 3 is most likely going to be the new minimum, whereas 4 Gigs is recommended. 6 is ideal.
Side Note: Memory really isn’t that expensive these days, so if your PC isn’t up to snuff memory-wise, you’d best pick some up before grabbing B4 when it launches. Most places sell packages of two RAM sticks at a great price.
Graphics Card Required
There’s a lot of discussion for Battlefield 4 in this area. Some are saying that a graphics card with 256 Mb VRAM will be sufficient, but I don’t think that’s enough. More than likely, you’ll need one that has 1 GB available like Nvidia’s GeForce GT 630 1GB DDR3, or AMD’s Radeon HD 5570 1024MB. If you’re aiming above minimum, consider the GeForce GTX 560 Ti or Radeon HD 6950 (same companies, respectively).
Other Miscellaneous Battlefield 4 Requirements for PC
Considering that many people dislike Vista, but have it, it’s looking like Vista 32 Bit could be acceptable for the low end of the spectrum for Battlefield 4’s system requirements. On the high end, Windows 7 is perfectly capable, as it also has great 64 Bit support, which will make the most of Battlefield’s capabilities.
Another thing to note is the Direct X necessary to play it. Again, there are varying opinions as to whether Direct X10 will be acceptable for the minimum, but we do know that Direct X11 is pretty standard, and is desired for the best play through.
Lastly, is hard drive space. We’ve heard anything from 15 GB to 26; even as low as 10 GB for the digital download version. Based on these numbers, we suggest allotting at least the 26 GB just in case, and if it ends up lower, great; now you’ve got room for game saves!
