Gus Sitting On The Sofa In His Room

Aside from the memorable gameplay Stardew Valley offers, the game provides depth to your experience through its witty and lively NPCs. And with that, Gus the Chef is certainly one of the wittiest characters in the game!

Besides working as a chef and serving as the owner of the prestigious Stardrop Saloon, Gus happens to be an exceptionally thoughtful individual! He’s definitely one of the characters that should be on the top of your list to befriend in Stardew Valley.

To do that, you’ll need to be aware of your progression through his storyline. This can quickly become complex, but you do not need to worry. Today, I’ll cover everything you need to know about Stardew Valley’s Masterchef – Gus!

Who is Gus?

Gus is a villager in Stardew Valley who lives in Pelican Town. He owns the Stardrop Saloon and can frequently be found working the counter here. Gus also acts as a merchant, selling various food items and recipes.

Gus is the local chef of Pelican Town, which naturally means that he’s your go-to guy for anything food-related. You can purchase various random and alternating food items from him in the Stardrop Saloon. He also sells several Food Recipes and can send you these items as gifts in your mailbox when befriended.

Behavior

Gus Max-Friendship Dialogue

Gus is an exceptionally positive and friendly character. You’ll notice his generosity, kindness, and welcoming attitude to your presence in the valley right off the bat. The character can always be found smiling and exchanging pleasantries whenever they meet. This make him one of the best characters to befriend in Stardew Valley!

Apart from being friendly towards you, most villagers also have nothing but kind remarks about Gus. His kind nature is also seen in a heart event, where he helps feed Linus instead of being unwelcoming towards him (like most other villagers).

Gus is good friends with Pam and Emily. The former is a loyal customer and, more often than not, can be found enjoying a drink at Gus’s Saloon. On the other hand, Emily is an employee of Gus and helps him tend to customers at his establishment.

Gus is considered to be an elderly villager in the game and is excluded from the list of marriage-eligible candidates. As a result, unlike Clint, you won’t be able to give him a Bouquet or propose!

Schedule

Gus’s daily routine will change based on several factors, such as your friendship level with him, the weather conditions, and the like. Although he has several alternative schedules that he can switch between, I’ll explain his regular (and most pertinent) schedule below!

Regular

Usually, Gus starts his day off at 8 am – sitting in his room. He remains idle on his sofa for 4 hours before he moves over to trending to the Stardrop Saloon. At 12 pm, he can be found cleaning glasses behind the counter in the building.

When the clock hits 4:30 pm, Gus stops cleaning glasses and starts tending the bar/counter of the Stardrop Saloon. He will remain here until the saloon closes at 12:30 pm and then head to bed. Gus essentially stays indoors the entire day!

Deviations

Gus Sitting On The Sofa In His Room

Gus has his annual medical checkup in Harvey’s Clinic on the 4th of the fall. On this day, when the clock hits 10:30 am, Gus heads to the clinic. He stays inside the waiting room until 1:30 pm and then walks to the examination room.

Gus gets done with his checkup by 4 pm. At this point, he heads back to tend the counter at the Stardrop Saloon until 12 am.

On each Monday, Gus follows an alternate schedule. He leaves his home at 8:30 am and visits Pierre’s General Store. The character spends the next 2 and a half hours here, picking up groceries and supplies.

Gus returns to the Stardrop Saloon by 11 am and tends the counter as always. He remains here for the rest of the day before heading to bed at midnight.

Gus visits the building each Tuesday if you’ve restored the Community Center. At precisely 8:30 am, he leaves the Stardrop Saloon and visits the Kitchen Room in the Community Center building. He stays idle here for the next 4 hours, possibly admiring all your work to repair the place!

Gus will return to the Stardrop Saloon by 12:30 pm and spend the rest of his day tending to the counter. He heads to bed at 12 am.
