2. Hosting

This website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. When you visit our website, the server automatically logs technical access data (IP address, pages visited, date/time, browser type, operating system, referrer URL). This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in ensuring reliable website operation). Server log files are automatically deleted after 14 days. A data processing agreement (DPA) with Hetzner is in place.

3. Reach Measurement with Matomo (Cookieless)

This website uses Matomo, an analytics software that we operate ourselves on our own server (Hetzner, Helsinki/Finland). The data collected remains on this server and is not passed on to third parties. Matomo is configured so that it sets no cookies and neither stores nor reads any information on your device; for that reason, no consent is requested for this measurement in the cookie banner.

The following data is processed: your IP address in shortened form (the last two bytes are removed before storage), the date and time of access, the pages accessed, the referring page, and browser and device type.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the statistical evaluation of the use of this website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You may object to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). In addition, our Matomo instance respects the “Do Not Track” setting of your browser: if it is enabled, your visit is not recorded.

4. Embedded YouTube Videos (Click-to-Load)

Some articles contain embedded YouTube videos. By default, no data is transmitted to YouTube or Google when you open such a page. You will see a placeholder with a play button.

Only when you click the play button, a connection to YouTube is established via the privacy-enhanced domain youtube-nocookie.com. This may transmit your IP address and browser information to Google Ireland Ltd./Google LLC.

Legal basis for loading the video: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent, expressed by clicking play). You can prevent data transfer by not clicking play. More info: Google Privacy Policy.

5. AI-Generated Images

Images on this site are generated locally using open-source image models (Flux.1 Schnell via ComfyUI) on our own hardware. No image prompts, article content or user data are transmitted to any third-party AI service.

5b. Consent Management (Cookie Banner)

To obtain and document consent, we use a self-operated consent management system (delivered via consent.consultd.de from our own server; not a third-party service). Your decision is stored in your browser (localStorage entries “cd_consent” and “cd_consent_version”; they remain until you withdraw your consent or until you delete your browser data).

To meet the accountability requirement (Art. 7(1) GDPR), we log each decision with the time, the selected categories, the browser identifier (user agent) and a pseudonymised identifier (a hash value of the IP address with a daily changing salt; the IP address itself is not stored); the log is kept for three years; archived records are deleted no later than six months after that.

Using the cookie settings button, which remains visible after your decision, you can change or withdraw your consent at any time.

6. SSL/TLS Encryption

This site uses SSL/TLS encryption. Look for the lock icon in your browser’s address bar and the “https://” prefix.

7. Cookies

This website does not set any tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. Only a technical session cookie may be set if you log into the (currently closed) admin area.
