Before you start, ensure you have the correct hard drive for your needs. Consider avenues such as capacity, speed, and the type of drive you need before you start. Prepare Your PC

Shut down your computer and make sure it’s unplugged from the power source – you don’t want to get electrified! Open up your PC case and locate the drive bays (these are usually pretty easy to find). According to your equipment, you’ll have different size needs for the drive.

Install the HDD/SSD

Mount your hard drive in its place by screwing it in. Then, connect the data and power cables to the hard drive. Make sure the cables are securely connected and not loose. This step is important – loose cables can lead to potential problems in the long run.

Configure the HDD/SSD

Once the hard drive is physically installed, you’ll have to configure it in your PC’s BIOS settings (in the event that it does not get automatically detected). Periodically checking your hard drive for errors can help prevent data loss and improve performance. You can use the built-in Windows tool called “Check Disk” to scan your hard drive for errors.

Avoid Overheating
