There’s nothing more exciting than finally seeing a game announce its release, especially if it’s been years in the making or delayed. New releases don’t always mean new games – they can also include remakes or remasters of older games. Getting to see a beloved favorite get the attention it deserves can be just as satisfying as seeing a brand-new release or sequel come out.
Game announcement trailers have been pouring out left and right lately, especially for the beloved Silent Hill franchise – a pleasant surprise for us all. Lots of these games have yet to decide when they’ll exactly release, and we’ll likely have to wait until next year to find out more. Regardless, there are still numerous games that have actually confirmed their release for 2023 and specified the platforms they’ll be releasing on.
The majority of upcoming games will be released on multiple platforms, including PC, but some are exclusive to certain consoles. Not everyone owns a console, especially since there are plenty of games available for PC nowadays, so we’ll be focusing solely on games that support PC. As a result, we’ll be skipping out on any games exclusive to consoles, including most switch games.
Octopath Traveler 2
Release Date: 24th February 2023

Octopath Traveler 2 is a game we never expected to see. The original Octopath Traveler first came out in 2018, and it became famous for its unique art style and combat system. Now we’ll once again be able to see the HD-2D pixel art against beautiful 3D backdrops, along with a set of all-new characters.
Like the last game, Octopath Traveler 2 features eight unique travelers, each with their own stories to tell. The game is set in the world of Solistia and retains most of the mechanics from the first game, such as path actions and the break/boost system. If you’re a big fan of JRPGs and pixel art, you’ll probably enjoy Octopath Traveler 2 – and don’t worry, you don’t need to play the first game to play this one.
The Wolf Among Us 2

The Wolf Among Us 2 has been long in the making, with the original game first released in 2013. The Wolf Among Us ended on a mysterious cliffhanger, which sparked many fan theories surrounding the game lore. Finally, after a very long wait, we finally have the much-anticipated sequel to the story – and hopefully, some answers.
The Wolf Among Us 2 is a narrative-driven game made by Telltale, and it tells the story of Bigsby – the werewolf Sheriff of Fabletown. The game’s lore takes a lot of inspiration from existing fairy tales, such as Snow White, Big Bad Wolf, and The Crooked Man – and puts a much darker twist on them. If you adore story-heavy games and unique interpretations of fairy tales, you will most likely enjoy The Wolf Among Us 2 – just make sure to play the original game first.
One Piece Odyssey

For fans of the One Piece series, this game came as a pleasant surprise when it was announced. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of One Piece, Bandai Namco is releasing an exciting new RPG based on the hit anime/manga series. The actual author of One Piece (Eiichiro Oda) even contributed to this game by creating new characters, monster designs, and storylines.
You play as the protagonist Luffy, who gets separated from his crew during a sea storm. The game’s main goal is to find your crew and escape the dangerous island. The RPG seems to feature a lot of combat as well as exploration and even lets you play as different characters later on.
Any fan of One Piece could very much enjoy this game, especially since the creator of the series took part in its production.
Lightyear Frontier
Release Date: Spring 2023
Platforms: PC, Xbox Series, and Xbox One
Lightyear Frontier mixes space and farming to make a unique sci-fi farming sim. It’s a calming open-world game set on a distant planet, which means lots of alien plants and fascinating environments. Lightyear Frontier has announced its early access release for 2023, allowing players to get their hands on the game sooner rather than later.
The game lets you explore the alien world with up to 3 friends, and you can even uncover the planet’s ancient secrets as you travel. This game is a great blend of the two for lovers of sci-fi and farming sims.
TRON: Identity
Release Date: 2023

TRON: Identity is a visual novel based on the famous TRON franchise – a series of sci-fi action/adventure movies. The game adopts a lot of the aesthetics from the original films, with neon accents and a blue/orange colour scheme. TRON: Identity features dialogue options, a choice-based narrative, and an intriguing storyline.
Play as the detective program Query and solve the mystery behind a break-in, which is just the start of a much bigger plot. You can investigate surroundings, interrogate suspects, and make choices that lead to different endings. Fans of TRON and detective games would love this upcoming visual novel.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an exciting new third-person shooter based on the hit comic Suicide Squad. From the creators of the Batman: Arkham series comes an action-adventure that combines narrative-driven games with shooter games. You can experience both thrilling combat and a compelling storyline.
Meet your favorite DC villains in an exhilarating new plot as they fight against alien forces and DC heroes, who are both trying to destroy the city. You can play the game solo or experience it with your friends in multiplayer. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is for anyone who loves both shooters and story-heavy games – there’s now a game that combines the two.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse now has a remastered version that’s coming out in early 2023. The game is a traditional japanese-style horror with a unique camera mechanic, which allows you to repel ghosts by capturing them with a camera. It’s set on R?getsu Isle, where you can explore a series of mansions and abandoned hospitals.
Play as Ruka, a girl suffering amnesia after being kidnapped years ago, and work to uncover the mysteries behind the island and her past. The remaster will upgrade the original game’s graphics and bring it to new consoles for players to enjoy. Those who enjoyed the original will appreciate this all-improved version of the game.
The Lords of the Fallen

The Lords of the Fallen, previously known as Lords of the Fallen 2, is a sequel to the original fantasy RPG. The Lords of the Fallen has no specific release date, but it has been confirmed that the game will come out sometime in 2023. The game’s announcement trailer has garnered a lot of hype, and the developers claim that the sequel will have higher combat difficulty and a dark fantasy setting.
Explore through two different parallel worlds as you journey to defeat the tyrannical demon God – Adyr. You can experience both the living realm and the realm of the dead in this new epic action RPG. Fans of Soulsborne and fantasy RPGs could very well enjoy this new title.
Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4, which was first released in 2005, now has a brand new remake. With better graphics, modernised mechanics, and a redefined storyline, Resident Evil 4 appears to have been much improved. The game’s teaser trailer has received very positive feedback from fans, and they seem hyped for its coming release.
Play as Leon Kennedy, a survivor of the disaster that struck the city, and locate the president’s missing daughter. This will lead you to a mysterious village where the locals are plagued with something terrible. The Resident Evil 4 remake is for anyone who enjoys survival horrors or fan of the original game.
