Is Stardew Valley Cross Platform?

Stardew Valley is one of those games that you just can’t get enough of, regardless of the hours you put in. Even so, Pelican Town can get a bit lonesome at times when you’re all by yourself. It’s only natural to want to play, share, and experience some of the best moments of your Stardew Valley journey with your friends. 

Well, if that’s your objective, I have some good and bad news for you! Before I answer the main question here, let’s address what cross-platform exactly is.

What Does Cross-Platform Mean?

Cross-platform is basically a term that explains whether a particular game can be played together by individuals from different devices. For example, a game that supports cross-platform would place players on a Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC in the same matchmaking pool. 

This means that individuals playing on fundamentally different devices would still be allowed to play the game together! Thus, the game “crosses” various platforms with one another. Now that I’ve got that out of the way let’s move on to the main query!

Can you Play Stardew Valley Across Platforms?

Well, let’s get the bad news out of the way first. 

Stardew Valley does not support cross-platform. As of the latest update, the game does not have cross-platform functionality. The developer of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe, has not given any indication of the game supporting the feature in the future either. 

This, unfortunately, means that you won’t be able to enjoy the glamorous farming life of Stardew Valley with your friends unless all of you hop on the same platform. Don’t lose all hope, though; Stardew Valley’s developer has always surprised fans with the plethora of content introduced with each new update. Although there aren’t any indications of this yet, there’s always the slight possibility that the feature gets introduced to the game in consequent updates.

Does Stardew Valley Have Co-op Multiplayer?

Now, let’s move on to the good news! Although the game doesn’t support cross-platform, it still has a co-op multiplayer mode that’ll allow you to share a farm and play together with your friends! Of course, the implied pre-requisite here is that all of your mates share the same type of platform. There is an exception for PC and Mac players who can play together, but other than that, the option doesn’t exist.

Nevertheless, individuals playing on the same platform can play the game together without any problems whatsoever!
